South Mississippi has seven schools remaining in the postseason following first and second round games Friday. The Coast’s highest region struggled again, but did narrowly avoid a second straight first round sweep.

Some of the area winners include teams in our preseason top-10 countdown, such as Westlake, LBJ, Dripping Spring and Lake Travis. But the competition should be tougher in the area playoffs next round.

The TSSAA football playoffs continue on Friday with the second round across the state. All nine classifications are competing in the postseason this weekend, with eyes on next month's BlueCross Bowl state championship games in Chattanooga.
