Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 opened higher but then dipped as Bajaj Finance reported a 28% YoY rise in assets under management. IT stocks surged ahead of the quarterly results season, while the external macro construct remains challenging with high US bond yields affecting FII flows.

The S&P BSE Sensex was up 254.19 points to 79,477.30, while NSE Nifty50 gained 61.50 points to 24,066.25 as of 9:23 AM.

The BSE Sensex fell 614 points, or 0.77 per cent to close at 79,330.14. Nifty declined 168.80 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 24,019.85. This is even as 2,136 BSE-listed stocks gained against 1,499 that slid so far.
